Bead kits available at

The Chickadee is a busy little bird found through much of North America, either Black Capped or Carolina Chickadees which are almost identical.
Pattern for a 3
dimensional
bird that stands on it's feet.
Detailed instructions including word charts, detail diagrams, and lots of photographs illustrating progress along the way
25 pages, including the cover.
Sized for 15/0 Miyuki round seed beads, however, it can also be made in 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads if you prefer. Other brands of seed beads may not be the same dimensions or have a different length to width ratio which may distort the pattern.
7 colors of 15/0 plus 1 color of 11/0 for the feet and 1 color of DBM for the legs
For Miyuki 15/0 in variable gram quantities, please go to KitsnStuff.com
Round black opaque glass beads for the eyes: 4mm for 15/0 and 6mm for 11/0
Legs have 20 gauge wire through the beads to hold up the weight of the bird
Polystyrene ball (25 mm) is used internally to support the legs, plus additional stuffing material
Skills needed: Peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows, plus flat peyote in even count and odd count. Herringbone stitch on the thighs only. Ability to start peyote stitch without a starter strip.
Ability
to follow a detailed word chart.
Finished size approximately 4.25" (11 cm) from top of head to tip of tail when made in 15/0. Smaller than life-side. Made in 11/0 would be a larger than life-size.
This is a very detailed complex pattern that requires close attention to increases and decreases to maintain the shape.
The word chart is much more detailed than usual to keep the shape going perfectly.
NOT a beginner's pattern.

Great starter bird...
This was my first bird to bead. He came out super in 11/0 beads. Directions were easy to follow...Thanks, Sheila!
