Pattern for a 3 dimensional horned Owl that stands on his feet.

Sized for Miyuki round seed beads, shown in 15/0, however, it can also be made in 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads if you prefer. Other brands of seed beads may not be the same dimensions or have a different length to width ratio which may distort the pattern. Cylinder beads like Delicas will not work as well because of their flat ends.

10 colors of 15/0 plus 1 color of 11/0 for the feet. About 13,500 beads total.

Round black opaque glass beads for the eyes: 4mm for 15/0 or 6mm for 11/0

No wires; the owl stands on his feet.

Polystyrene balls (two 38 mm) are recommended, plus additional stuffing material. Could be made without the foam balls.

Skills needed: Peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows, plus flat peyote in even count and odd count. Ability to start peyote stitch without a starter strip. Ability to follow a detailed word chart.

Advanced level pattern. NOT a beginner's pattern.

Finished size approximately 6" (15 cm) from top of head to tip of tail when made in 15/0. Much smaller than life-size in either 15/0 or 11/0.

This is a very detailed complex pattern that requires close attention to increases and decreases to maintain the shape.

The word chart is much more detailed than usual to keep the shape going perfectly. Wings are worked directly onto the body, not added on.

Pages are watermarked, but watermarks do not interfere with use of any instructions, diagrams, or photos.

Magnificent Bird

This is my favorite bird. He is the center of attention. There is a lot of work that has gone into this creation. Sheila has done an excellent job on him. I highly recommend adding this beautiful bird to your collection.

Owl

This wonderful bird took me 3 weeks to complete. The directions were great & he is wonderful. Made him in 11/0 Miyuki beads & I am thrilled with the finished bird!
