Pattern for a 3-dimensional Maine Lobster, based on the live lobster, not the bright red cooked version!

Detailed instructions including word charts, detail diagrams, and photographs illustrating progress along the way.

Not a beginner pattern. This pattern is not particularly difficult, but it does require a lot of attention to details.

Sized for 15/0 OR 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads. Not tested for other brands of seed beads which may have a different length to width ratio which can distort the pattern. Cylinder beads like Delicas or Aikos will not work because of the curved surfaces and will greatly distort the shape of the lobster because of their squarer shape.

4 colors of 15/0 or 11/0 round seed beads, plus one color of 11/0 (if using 15/0) or 8/0 (if using 11/0) for the walking legs. Approximately 3170 beads total. Colors numbers (Miyuki) are given for making your lobster in the natural reddish/brown/black color shown.

Drop beads in black opaque glass are used for the eyes, which stick up a bit on the lobster's face: 3.4 mm for 15/0, or 3x5.5 mm for 11/0

Wire armatures are used in the walking legs and the long antennae, plus just a tiny bit of stuffing material is used in the head and thorax.

Skills needed: flat odd count peyote stitch, plus peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows. A small amount of brick stitch. Ability to follow a detailed word chart.

Finished size when made in 15/0 Miyuki round seed beads: approximately 4.25" (10.8 cm) from tip of front claws to end of tail, with a 3" (7.6 cm) long body

OR finished size when made in 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads: approximately 5 5/8" (14.25 cm) from tip of front claws to end of tail, with a 4" (10.2 cm) long body.

This is a detailed complex pattern that requires close attention to detail to maintain the shape and connect the parts.

The word chart is very detailed to keep the shape going perfectly.
