Pattern for a 3 dimensional Mermaid with long wavy hair, a garland of seaweed on her head, and a fancy dorsal fin

Designed to "float" on a floral wire in imaginary water. Can be used in a flowerpot, or stuck in the sand in a dry aquarium, or she can be suspended by a thread to hang on a mobile or tree.

Sized for 15/0 OR 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads. Not tested for other sizes or brands of beads. Not recommended for cylinder beads like Delica or Aiko.

10 colors of 15/0 or 11/0 round seed beads. Approximately 5000 beads total.

Eyes: 11/0 round seed beads if using 15/0, or 8/0 round seed beads if using 11/0

Straight floral wire is required if you plan to use the mermaid in a flowerpot or sand; 18 gauge for 15/0 beads OR 16 gauge for 11/0 beads.

A wire armature is used in the arms so that they maintain their shape and are slightly posable.

Skills needed: Peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows, plus flat herringbone stitch. Ability to start peyote stitch without a starter strip. Ability to follow a detailed word chart.

Intermediate level if you have some experience with the skills listed above. Guidelines are included for the word charts and herringbone stitch, but the pattern is not intended to teach basic skills.

Finished size approximately 4.75" (12 cm) tall if made in 15/0. OR Approximately 6.25" (16 cm) tall if made in 11/0.

All parts are integrated into the pattern, not sewn on separately.

This is a detailed pattern that requires close attention to increases and decreases to maintain the shape.

The word chart is much more detailed than usual to keep the shape going perfectly, but includes a detailed explanation of terms and abbreviations used.

Language: English.
