Pattern for a Monarch butterfly; 3-D, double-sided wings show wing pattern and color variations on top and bottom
Finished size: wingspan approximately 4" (10 cm)
Butterfly hangs by threads with his wings up. No wire armatures! Same technique can be used to adapt patterns in my book "A Flock of Butterflies"
Pattern contains lettered diagrams of wings AND detailed word charts, including how to create the shapes on the wings in peyote stitch, plus detailed instruction on putting him together, and photos of the assembly process
Wings and body are made in Peyote Stitch
5 colors of size 11 cylinder beads, plus 2 colors of 15/0 round seed beads (or DB) for the body, and 4 beads in 11/0 for eyes and tips of antennae. Approximately 3550 beads total.
Color numbers are given for Miyuki Delica beads
Body and antennae use size 15/0 seed beads; (Delicas can be substituted, if you can't work with 15/0).
