Pattern for a 3 dimensional Peacock.

Designed to stand on a flat surface with his tail down out behind him. Tail is designed to get the maximum effect of the fluffy feathers with eyes with the minimum amount of beading to still have a stable structure.

Sized for 15/0 OR 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads. Other brands of seed beads may not be the same dimensions or have a different length to width ratio which may distort the pattern slightly. Cylinder beads like Delicas will not work as well because of the curved surfaces in the bird and will distort the shape because of their more square shape.

12 colors of 15/0 or 11/0 round seed beads. Approximately 17,000 beads total.

Round black opaque glass beads for the eyes: 3mm for 15/0, or 4mm for 11/0

Feet/legs use wire to allow the bird to stand with some adjustment for balance. No foam ball is required, but it does need stuffing material, such as cotton balls.

Skills needed: Peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows, plus flat 2-drop peyote stitch in even count and odd count. Ability to start peyote stitch without a starter strip. Ability to follow a detailed word chart.

Intermediate to Advanced level.

Finished size approximately 5" (13 cm) tall and 9" (23 cm) from beak to tip of tail when made in 15/0. OR Approximately 6.6" (17 cm) tall and 12" (31 cm) from beak to tip of tail when made in 11/0. Life-size is much larger. The bird itself is not any larger than my other birds, but the fancy tail adds to the length of the bird.

This is a detailed complex pattern that requires close attention to increases and decreases to maintain the shape.

The word chart is much more detailed than usual to keep the shape going perfectly.
