Pattern for a 3 dimensional Snowy Owl.

Designed to stand on a perch or object with his tail down below his feet, but can also stand on flat ground

Sized for 15/0 OR 11/0 Miyuki round seed beads. Other brands of seed beads may not be the same dimensions or have a different length to width ratio which may distort the pattern slightly. Cylinder beads like Delicas will not work as well because of the curved surfaces in the owl and will distort the shape of the owl because of their more square shape.

6 colors of 15/0 or 11/0 round seed beads, plus one color of 11/0 (if using 15/0) or 8/0 (if using 11/0) for the talons. Approximately 15,000 beads total.

Round black opaque glass beads for the eyes: 3mm for 15/0, or 4mm for 11/0

Feet/legs use wire to allow the bird to stand with some adjustment for balance. No foam ball is required.

Skills needed: Peyote stitch in the round, stepping up at the end of rows, plus flat peyote stitch in even count and odd count. Ability to start peyote stitch without a starter strip. Ability to follow a detailed word chart.

More Advanced level.

Finished size approximately 5.5" (14 cm) from top of head to tip of tail when made in 15/0. OR Approximately 7.25" (18.4 cm) head to tail when made in 11/0. Life-size is much larger.

This is a detailed complex pattern that requires close attention to increases and decreases to maintain the shape.

The word chart is much more detailed than usual to keep the shape going perfectly.
